“Our Identity” involves activities from range of various studies and arts. It is thought as a path of learning, entering intro regions, which we touch on daily basis more or less consciously .

 

This programme was launched already in 2016 as a virtual exhibition. In 2017 another realizations are incoming: exhibitions, meetings and lectures.

 

It is multi-layered activity and it is supposed to be the beginning of a road… road to “own identity”.

 

The most important element of this programme is an opening of a permanent exhibition “Our Identity”, which is an attempt of facing such searches. It says about people and place’s identity, but also tries to capture an aspect of an identity in a historical and social manner. Exposition travels in time, showing us the most interesting threads of daily life relevant to another generations. Narration is led from the point of view of contemporaneity – here and now – it is a starting point of considering.

 

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Exposition travels in time, showing us the most interesting threads of daily life relevant to another generations. Narration is led from the point of view of contemporaneity – here and now – it is a starting point of considering.

 

Every generation is represented by chosen room, typical for given history period. We go through grand-granddads chamber, granddads kitchen, living room of 3 room flat of our parents, ending at teen room from ‘80s. A long walk, during which exhibits become trademarks. Recognizing of items and places should remind us about where do we come from and so who we are.

Unique room on this path is mayor’s home office. It is a theatrical staging, which should surprise, show the town in the background of an epoch. Finally to attract attention to people’s uniqueness, who created this town.

“Time mirror” – another element of this exhibition – is a historical and social look, deep inside our identity. Reminds about it, describes and builds, hardens in the end. It says “this is where we come from, what we are like, we differ but we live together, because place bounds us”.

The last and probably the most unique place of the exposition is “Szuflandia”, whom name should remind of classic movie made by Juliusz Machulski. In every drawer there are hidden pieces of identity as an unique exhibits – emotional time capsules.
