INVESTMENT OF COMMON PUBLIC-PRIVATE DEAL – THE MUNICIPAL MUSEUM IN ŻORY
Investment of building of the Municipal Museum in Żory is an innovative solution on Polish grounds, connecting business sphere with public sphere to achieve reciprocal benefits, as well as a realisation of politics „Business Programme Partnership” because of society’s needs.
Having in mind that in contemporary world, a museum balances between challenges (which are faced by principals of such an institutions) between needs of local society and financial stability, the Museum’s organizer decided to write a decision about building a museum in to Town’s Perennial Financial Prediction and a start of realisation of the project.
In virtue of triangular deal between the Municipal Museum in Żory, Municipal Borough Żory (its organizer) and KSSE a foundation of project’s realization and mutual obligations were determined.
During preparation of the project:
the Municipal Museum was measured to objectively and competently describe it – its potential, as well as critical aspects of functioning. Alternative solutions from organizator were also analysed.
Structural project was prepared by AiR Jurkowscy Studio, which won a competition announced by KSSE. This project in an unique way mixed an old villa with a modern vision of museum’s space, where economics with culture are mixed in an interesting manner. Project was awarded with „Modernization of 2013” award, category „Antique facility”.
Due to needs of the Municipal Museum, surface of 1098,99 m2 was given (in the antique part of villa – 243,79 m2, and 855,20 m2 of attached, new part). According to the earlier vision presented during the contest, all these spaces build for the museum are made of structural concrete, bright wood and glass.
Each of sides went to the costs of it and gained spoiles due to realization of the project.

In a new space for exhibitions, there are 2 permanent exhibitions: „Our Identity” and „Polish way of learning the world”.
This project was titled during a contest „The most important museum event of the year SYBILLA 2014”, category : Investments.
