Pannier (yuck) – MŻo/A/3990
Origin: Goundam (Mali)
Dating: 2nd half of the 20th century
Description: Leather pannier, consisting of multi-colored, richly decorated patterns. The men’s pannier comes from the Tuareg Tinguereguif living in Mali. A. Rybiński received a purse from nephew Tuareg Tinguereguif water living in Mali. It served the same function as the men’s decorative, travel pouch - eljebira at Tuareg Kel Ahaggar. This pannier was called by the Tuaregs the Moorish name tasufra. Of tremendous importance to the Tuareg, everything that had to be done to get to their homes had to have containers. Decorative sacks of tasufara and adabaun were made mainly of goatskin, in which milk, cheese and water were stored. In the warehouses, more or less for me, clothes and valuables were kept. The most beautiful objects of interest were from artisans or settled people. This was the case with the large ornate sackcloth of the male eljebiru. In the 19th century, one camel could be obtained for two such sacks.
