„Sieroszewski 2015” expedition

 

This was a scientific type expedition, understood as a process of perfecting and developing professional qualifications.

Especially Japanese part was unique in this case – lots of meetings with a few specialists, discussing interesting topics, elements of sightseeing exhibitions, talking about them, lectures and interviews.

 

PURPOSE

Its purpose was to gather exhibits for the Museum due to exhibition “the Polish Way of Learning the World”.

 

AREA OF RESEARCHES

Researches were held at Japanese island Hokkaido and territory of Korea, due to Waclaw Sieroszewski’s visit here in the past.

 

EXPLORATORY TOPICS

At the time of stay in Korea, we focused on gathering exhibits depicting traditional culture of this country, which was described by Wacław Sieroszewski in the beginning of XXth century (1960).

In Japan (Hokkaido island) we have gathered Ainu exhibits to depict scientific researches held by Bronisław Piłsudski.

There were also researches held concerning process of changes in small ethnic group, which was absorbed by dominant group (the Japanese).

 

RESEARCHES EFFECTS

Within this expedition we took over 1000 pictures (588 in Korea and 498 in Japan) with Pentax DSLR and 75 photos with analog camera Mamiya 645.

108 exhibits were bought for the Municipal Museum’s collection.
