Social exhibition, what it means? Leaving aside the methodological divagation about the term “social”, the answer is surprisingly simple – Yours!
It is an idea shaped by You. Invented and reconsidered. Created by the people of Żory and for the people of Żory.
Describing and narrating important stories. For You. For all of us.
The idea and the active commitment to its materialization: script grafting, collecting and describing objects and, when necessary, rolling up the sleeves and taking things in our own hands. Yours but also ours – by translating into exhibition language, giving elegance, adding...
The exhibition, or precisely educational exhibition project, “Work – Passion – Friendship...” perfectly fits in the above mentioned assumptions. This project was carried out to commemorate the 40th anniversary of placing in service the one and only ZMP coal-mine of Żory (later renamed to Żory coal-mine) on December 3. This mine used to be the most modern one in the country and there were high hopes regarding the mine in the context of the city development. However, the mine federated only for a dozen years. The mine was closed down but the memory survived and is nowadays cherished by the former miners during annual, traditional “beer taverns”. This year’s beer tavern officially called “Meetings of the expelled from Żory” took place on 23rd . Its participants were the ones that came up with an idea of organizing the commemorative exhibition telling the story of “the deceased” – as they call their mine.
