What is behind a word „upcycling”?

It’s a form of processing of wastes, which result in a product with a much higher value than processed materials.

Conception of upcycling was presented by Riemann Verlag in a publication “Upcycling” released in 1999.

A couple of words from artist.

Cardboard is associated with… Well, most often it is associated with nothing. For most of us it is a useful item for package, and at the same time useless just after its usage. It is noticeable even in its color – neutral; shades of grey, light brown – these two colors seem to be very neutral.

My journey with cardboards as a creating material started accidentally, and in the course of time it turnt into passion. At the beginning it was just a filling for floristic works, slowly making its way to becoming a dominant element.

Working with cardboard is a combination of repetitiveness and uniqueness.
This exhibition is a dialogue between cardboard and ceramics. Both are related to nature; it is their origin as they are made of wood and clay. They also return to nature as a world of primal feelings and emotions expressed in the pictures.
